Thomas B. Starratt
Thomas B. Starratt, Principal of Parker Academy has been an educator for 35 years. He is an enthusiastic supporter of student centered instruction. Mr. Starratt has been a strong proponent of after-school and summer school programs. He has a strong background in the use of data to inform instruction and uses a “Balanced Scorecard” approach to keeping local communities informed of how students are performing.
He has a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Plymouth State University, and a Master’s Degree in Reading from the University of New Hampshire. He also holds a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Supervision from Plymouth State University.
Tom has earned numerous awards and commendations for his work in the field of education. These have included Principal of the Year, the Leadership in Innovation Award, National Distinguished Educator of the Year, and the Commander’s Award for service to deployed families.
His schools have earned several Baldrige Awards. One of his schools was chosen as the NH Middle School of the Year. In addition, his previous school was recognized by NAMSP on three occasions as being a runner up for the National Middle School of the Year.
Mr. Starratt and his wife have five children, twelve grandchildren and one great granddaughter, most of who live in the New Hampshire seacoast area. They own a home in Milford N.H. and enjoy the many events and activities available in Hillsboro County.
